For this year's Eisteddfod we will be trialling the Music Uploads system by which competitors upload their own music into their system and it is played from the Cloud Storage that Music Uploads maintains. Those of you who competed at the 2021 Rockhampton Dance Festival will be familiar with this system. You will need your competitor number to attach music to the right section.
The following instructions are intended mostly for those competitors who are new to the system
If you have previously used Music Uploads and you took out an extended subscription you will have most if not all of your music already uploaded. For these competitors you will be able to migrate your music from your previous uploads to the Rockhampton Eisteddfod section on Music Uploads NOTE they refer to each new competition listed as a "Region". Assuming you have retained your previous Music Upload subscription, you will only be charged their standard rate of $2.50 to add your music to the new competition region i.e. Rockhampton Eisteddfod, once that has been opened up in Music Uploads in the next few days.
If you are new to Music Uploads you will need to go to www.musicuploads.com.au and sign up for a new subscription. Note rates are quite reasonable and commence at about 89 cents for the shortest term available.
Once you have your subscription (and Music Uploads will send you a password etc for future sign-ons), you will be able to start uploading your music. Please make certain that you CORRECTLY indicate your FULL NAME, your COMPETITOR NUMBER, the SECTION NUMBER and the SECTION TITLE or DESCRIPTOR.
COMPETITOR 346 NAME Mary Ellen Smith
SECTION 2 SECTION NAME Classical Ballet Solo under 10 years.
Music Uploads also provides a section for you to enter any notes about your performance e.g. starts onstage, starts off stage etc. If you are entered in a Demi-character section you can include the title of your Demi. Likewise, if you are entered in a National you can enter the Nationality of your performance.
Please note that in Music Uploads competitor numbers are listed in sequence from 001 through to whatever the end number for the entire competition may be they do not use the old in section numbers as we used to use.
It is entirely your responsibility to check that what you have uploaded is ACCURATE and CORRECT. The system will show you a check point that you will be asked to check off. YOU ARE ENTIRELY RESPONSIBLE FOR DOING THE FINAL CHECK
Please also note that in our trial of this system, competitors will not receive the old style written adjudicator reports. Our adjudicator will be making her comments as a voice over using a microphone at her desk. Her comments on each performance will be uploaded to Music Uploads for you to hear. Note that only the competitor (subscriber to Music Uploads) will be able to access these comments, using the password to your Music Uploads account. It is our intention to upload the adjudicators critique at the end of each day, or possibly at the end of each session depending on time availability.
We are yet to finalise the details, but it may also be that videos that you may be able to order will also be uploaded to Music Uploads. You will be advised of these details (or any alternate arrangements) before the Eisteddfod commences
If you feel in any way uncomfortable with using Music Uploads, please feel free to bring a second copy of your music (on a USB preferably) as a last resort this will be played from backstage
Finally, please note that many of our local teachers and many competitors did use Music Uploads for last year's Dance Festival. I have no doubt that should you need further guidance they would be more than happy to assist you. Alternatively, please ask for assistance from the Eisteddfod Dance Convenor
ALL MUSIC MUST BE UPLOADED AND CHECKED BEFORE MIDNIGHT ON 25 APRIL. AFTER THAT DATE/TIME THE SYSTEM WILL BE CLOSED OFF AND IT WILL NOT BE POSSIBLE FOR COMPETITORS TO UPLOAD MUSIC AFTER THAT DATE/TIME AND, AS SUCH, WILL BE UNABLE TO COMPETE
